The Episcopal Church of St Matthew and St Timothy (W. 84th Street) and Congregation Rodeph Sholom (W. 83rd Street) announce a partnership of the SMST Knitting Group supporting the Shawl Ministry, Seaman's Church Institute, and RS Days for Girls.
If you sew, knit or crochet (or want to learn), join us at SMST's Sanford Hall on the first Monday of the month. We share a light supper, work on our projects for two hours, join in fellowship and finish up with blessing the finished shawls and Compline. PS: men welcome!
Part of Prayer Shawl Ministries
The Prayer Shawl Ministry was started in 1998 by two graduates of the Women’s Leadership Institute at the Hartford Seminary and has spread worldwide. Blessings and prayers are knitted into each shawl with a final blessing by all the group’s participants. The shawls are given to those in need – recipients include those undergoing medical procedures, the bereaved, people going through rites of passage.
We also knit for the Christmas-at-Sea program of the Seamen’s Church Institute.
SMST Knitting Group supports RS Days for Girls by providing reusable feminine hygiene products for girls and women in developing countries and US prisons.
